E.D. Thurman Is Dead; Prominent in Local Affairs

E.D. Thurman, of 1501 Jefferson street, died Thursday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock following an illness of several years.

Mr. Thurman was born in Wright County, Missouri, January 28, 1863. He formerly owned the St. Nicholas hotel in this city and was engaged in that business for 25 years after which he was in the real estate business until he retired because of ill health.

Numerous city offices were held by Mr. Thurman, including membership in the Paducah city council and service as a representative of the Third District in the Board of County Commissioners.

Surviving him are three daughters: Mrs. Russell Long, Mrs. S.P. Colthorp and Mrs. Floss Walters; three sons: J.E. Thurman, D.W. Thurman and Jack Thurman; five grandchildren; James Everett Long, Dorothy Ann Colthorp, Ann Colthorp, Steven Colthorp, Jr., and Phyllis Thurman; and two sisters: Mrs. Ann Parker and Mrs. Nannie Northrap, of Vicksburg, Miss.
